The aim of The Optic Shop has always been to offer the highest quality of service at the most reasonable prices. The success of their first shop, in Bridgend in 1991, meant they were able to expand rapidly in the 1990s, throughout the South Wales region. They now have a number of high street outlets, as well as additional franchises supporting the high quality of service and value for money demanded by the Optic Shop.
In each branch there is a team of registered opticians and experienced staff working to ensure the top level of care with the most recent technology in eye testing and contact lens examination. There are a number of Welsh and English speaking, male and female opticians to choose from as well as easily accessible ground floor examination rooms. Eye tests are available 6 days a week from Monday to Saturday, including the Eye Health Examination Wales (EHEW).

The on-site glazing facilities allow for the technicians to process orders quickly and individually, with a one hour service available in many cases. Our UK based laboratories supply the latest advances in digital lenses providing patients with the best possible quality of vision.
Each shop offers a full NHS eye service, including free eye examinations for those who qualify, and in addition to this, a choice of spectacles totally free of charge with an NHS voucher. Of course children go free – with a fantastic collection of fun frames including No Fear, Peppa Pig and Ben 10 to choose from, and for the more discerning teenagers we have a wide range of stylish frames.
There is also a vast selection of the current fashion trends for all ages. In store there are the latest collections of Ray Ban, Prada, Versace, Dior, Armani, Ted Baker and many more top designers, with some at 50% off RRP. If you can’t find what you are looking for our experienced staff will be more than happy to assist in sourcing the items you require. For our more sporty customers we have access to an extensive selection of sports eyewear including Oakley, Dirty Dog and Revo for skiing and cycling, as well as swimwear goggles.
If you fancy an alternative to your spectacles why not enquire about contact lenses? With constantly improving materials and technology you will be surprised at how many options are now available and our knowledgeable opticians will be able to offer you the best advice and analysis
